Mansfield Liederkranz Web Site Help
This page will contain information on how to navigate and use many of the features on our club's Web site. Once enough inquiries are received, we will also add a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and their answers. At present you may email the Webmaster TTHORNTON@woh.rr.com , contact me in person at the club, or use "snail mail". My postal address is: Thomas C. Thornton, M.D. P.O. Box 314, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351. If you have reached this page, you probably know how to navigate through this Web site. In general, all you have to do is to click on the menu choice with your mouse pointer and your browser should take you to your chosen section. Also, there are two basic menu structures. The menu structure at the top of each page will either take you to any of the major points of interest on the Web site or to the major subsections within a point of interest., such as the club dance groups under "Special Groups". If you notice any menu choices in the left margin, you are probably in a subsection of a major section or on the home introductory page. Clicking on "Home" should always take you to the introductory page. "Up" or "Down" choices will usually allow you to navigate through the various subsections of any major interest section. You may notice that most of the photographs on this Web site appear small. These are actually "thumbnail" representations of the actual photos. If you click "on" any of these pictures, maps, etc., you should get the enlarged version for better appreciation. The reason for doing this is to allow your web browser to download this Web site more quickly. The actual photographic images use more memory than the thumbnail version. You will be able to read the content of each web page while the images are being downloaded. People with slower modems will appreciate this function the most. We are always looking for information to include in our newsletter or other sections of the Web site that may be of interest to our membership. If you have any information, images, internet links, etc. that you feel might be appreciated by our membership, please submit these to me. We prefer online submissions, but hand to hand or snail mail is also acceptable. The content of any items or information is subject to review and approval of the Webmaster, newsletter editor, and Club Officers. If any submitted items are date sensitive, please provide them as soon as possible. Addition of these items to the Web site or newsletter is not guaranteed to occur in a timely manner. Also, if you wish to remain anonymous to the membership when submitting this information, you must announce this explicitly.
Recommendations for Article/Image Submission to Mansfield Liederkranz Website
1. MS Word or MS Works for word processed documents. 2. Sender to do viral check before sending material/files to (ML). 3. Send images in Jpeg format Keep resolution low (but good enough) to minimize memory usage. They need to be kept within monitor field size for best and easiest presentation. Try to keep picture file size below 500K. The server will not accept large picture files and will shut down. Resolution will still be good enough for the webpage. 4. Send information, images, etc. as attachments and not in body of email message, if possible. 5. Be as current and early as possible (timely manner) to allow for (ML) time to place on website. Don’t wait until the last minute?! 6. Do spellcheck, etc. before submission to (ML). 7. Title information or article as it needs to be displayed before submission. 8. Notify (ML) if any information already submitted needs to be modified for correctness, currentness, clarifications, etc. 9. These recommendations are listed on the Mansfield Liederkranz website on the "Help" and "Newsletter" page. ML = Mansfield Liedekranz Thomas C. Thornton, M.D. Webmaster, Mansfield Liederkranz
